The Big Banger

The “Big Banger” is ready for paint but not without some delay to our time line. Due to extra work we have now completed to make this project work, and right 1st time around.

Anyone familiar with these cars will notice the modification to the apron, allowing the brake ducts to pass through and be functional. Also the fabricated chassis ends and boxed support for the front sheetmetal and headlamps all of which have been purpose shaped and edge folded to ensure of retained strength and factory appearance.

A replacement rear window lower panel was ordered in from Australia through Rare Spares in Christchurch and welded in to eliminate the standard rust issue there.

A VL Commodore Hydraulic pedal box has been fitted and the firewall filled to provide for that and some previous poor rust repairs around the front screen also redone.

All of the doors, boot and bonnet have been stripped and filed and 2 pak primed.

The rear bumper ends have been shortened and new, shaped ends fabricated and plastic welded in place, to suit the new monster rear arch flares (as per the real car) and new body mounts fabricated to ensure perfect and permanent alignment.

Suspension and driveline is now being prepped and powder coated bushed and rebuilt during this next few weeks while I hand the paint work over to the staff here to continue on with.
