If you need to make an Insurance Claim, here are a few things you need to know:
KNOW YOUR RIGHTS
You have the right to choose your repairer. For Quality and professionalism second to none always name Brads Smash Repairs to both tow truck operators and your insurance company. You do NOT have to accept any repairer your insurance company nominates.
Insurance Companies insist on a repairer being reputable, competent and reliable. Brads Smash Repairs membership of the NZCRA assures you of these qualities.
LEGAL OBLIGATIONS
If you collide with another vehicle you MUST STOP, check if anyone is hurt and render assistance to an injured person. You must also give your name and address to the police if requested and (if someone is hurt), you must report the accident tot he Police within 24 hours.
If you damage another person’s vehicle or property you must advise the owner, or the police within 48 hours. For minor accidents, drivers should exchange names, addresses, insurance companies, and registration numbers.
You will need to give some details to the other people involved and you will also need to obtain details from them. The basic details you need are:
Name, Address, Telephone numbers, Make and model of vehicle, Rego number, Drivers licence number, Insurance Company, Witness Name, Witness Telephone number, Officer Attending and if possible a sketch of the accident scene.
